The Internet has brought us email, instant messaging, and chat rooms. All of them are ingenious and effective ways of shrinking the globe through instant interaction, but as cyberspace becomes more populated with vibrant online communities, its technological aspects have needed a more human face.
The weblog, or blog, is the latest incarnation of the attempt to bring Internet users together. Blogs are instruments with which anyone having an Internet connected PC can share his or her thoughts on any subject whatsoever. Blogs are also used by politicians, companies and businesses.
Individuals use blogs to record their daily lives, like their parents once used diaries. Blogs can also have photos or videos, or express opinions of the issues of the day. They are meant to be authentic and unedited journals shared with a segment of the Internet community. And blog sites are places where multiple bloggers can come together to read and comment on each other’s blogging efforts.
